Congrats to our first Volunteer of the Month Award winner

The Hannah's Socks Volunteer of the Month Award is given to a person who best reflects the generous spirit of Hannah Turner by donating those most valuable of gifts — time and energy — in support of the Hannah's Socks cause.

We'd like to congratulate the winner for November 2008, Kirsty Sayer of Bowling Green, Ohio.

Kirsty joined our team just last month when she accepted a position as a writer for our website. Since then she's really made things happen, including:

  • Cranking out many well-written blogs
  • Working with her two oldest sons, who are on their elementary school's student council, to engage their fellow students in a Sock Drive as their service project for the year
  • Writing a letter to parents of students in her youngest son's preschool class, explaining that this year in lieu of gifts from students, their teacher would like to receive donations for Hannah's Socks (and inviting parents to sign up for our email newsletter!)
  • Inspiring a local Girl Scout Troop to conduct a Sock Drive
  • Engaging the The Bowling Green Training and Community Center in a Sock Drive

Kirsty also made the journey up the interstate with her husband and four children to meet Hannah and the team at the Max & Erma's FUNdraiser.

We love it when new volunteers dive in head-first, and Kirsty did just that. You can read her Hannah's Socks blog, and you can check out her personal blog as well.
