Sock donors, start your engines!

A friendly competition is revving up between three auto dealerships to see who can get the most donations for Hannah's Socks into their display cars during a fun-filled holiday celebration.

You can get in on the action by coming to lovely and historic Downtown Perrysburg Sunday, November 30, when Perrysburg Main Street, Inc. and the Perrysburg Area Arts Council will kick off the holiday shopping season in style with their "Home for the Holidays" event.

They'll be putting on quite a show, admission is free, and our three sponsoring car dealers hope you'll come out to donate socks and make one of them the winner!

We'd like to thank Rouen Toyota of Maumee, Ed Schmidt Auto Group, and Taylor Hyundai of Perrysburg for sponsoring the donation competition. Stop by any time between noon and 5:30 p.m to help fill the three cars with donated socks, hats, gloves and other warm clothing. Regardless of which dealership has the fullest car in the end, everyone wins, as many feet and hearts in our community will be warmed.

During this great day, you will also discover all sorts of family holiday fun to be had:

• Check out the clown and holiday crafts for kids at Allison's Art Room
• Observe an ice sculpture being created at Hood Park
• Catch a festive horse and carriage ride with your family and friends
• Listen to a story from Santa himself
• See paper art at its finest by watching a master paper cutter at work
• Hear a jazz musician and see work by his portrait-drawing wife
• Take advantage of merchants' great day-of sales

The day's highlight will be the Holiday Lights parade at 4:30, when all participants will be aglow with candles, battery powered holiday lights, or flashlights.

So pick up a pair of socks, grab your family, and join the fun!
