Saturday, September 8 was Perrysburg Youth Soccer Association's opening day. Cristy Seely, vice president and chair for opening day, met with the coaches and organized a sock collection for our organization. Cristy had told me that there would be about 800 kids participating. "There are close to 70 teams grades K through 12," she said.
I remember thinking that if every child brought just one pair, we would be closer to reaching our goal for the Cherry Street Mission and the Boys and Girls Clubs.
The team at Hannah's Socks was quite excited to be a part of this. We arrived at Rivercrest Park in Perrysburg, found our booth and we were ready to go. We also took in monetary donations, and for each monetary donation you would receive a cute Hannah's Socks T-shirt! We had adults and kids sizes available. It was truly a fun day.
We met other organizations, coaches, kids and their parents. PYSA was so well organized on opening day and Hannah's Socks greatly benefited. Many thanks go out to Cristy; Dale Price, president; Kim Mills, secretary; Matt Thomford and Dave Skorupski, commissioners; and all of the coaches, parents and kids! We are closer to our goal of collecting 6500 pairs of socks for the shelters this winter.
We'll be collecting more socks and taking donations at Harrison Rally Days. Come and see us at our booth and learn more!
