Hannah's Socks • warm feet, warm hearts

I had a wonderful experience today with fellow Board member Sally Goligoski -- together we visited I Am My Brother's Keeper Ministries at Pilgrim Church in Detroit!

Sally and I will never forget this day. We were welcomed with open arms and nothing but smiles. Pilgrim Church's Pastor Henry Covington, who's one of the subjects of Mitch Albom's latest book "Have a Little Faith: A True Story," signed copies of the book for us and gave us a tour of his facility.

Last night they fed 62 people and 47 men and 2 women spent the night in the church's gym. The church, located at 1435 Brainard St. in Detroit, is beautiful and was built in the late 1800s. The roof was replaced recently, and on December 9, the building will be re-dedicated and 1,000 pairs of socks (which we dropped off today) will be distributed to the clients of the shelter.
